What OVERDRIVE is not

Privacy in one paragraph

The painted map, drives and stats are stored on the iPhone by default, and the app contains no advertising. With Snap to Roads on (the default), a finished drive's points are sent to the OSRM map-matching service so the line follows real roads; switching it off keeps every trace on the device. Profiles, friends, crews, messages, drive summaries and Convoy positions use an anonymous account created on the device, with no email address or password, and the account can be deleted from inside the app. See the privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

What is OVERDRIVE?

OVERDRIVE: Road Tracker & Map is an iPhone app that paints the roads you drive onto your own map, so your city starts dark and fills in as you drive. It scores smoothness, never speed.

Who makes OVERDRIVE?

OVERDRIVE is made by a small independent team. Contact hello@overdriveapps.com. It is not related to OverDrive, Inc., the company behind the Libby library app.

Is OVERDRIVE free?

OVERDRIVE is free to download and your first two drives are free. After that, OVERDRIVE Pro costs $3.99 a week, $9.99 a month or $34.99 a year in the US (prices vary by country), or a one-time Lifetime purchase ($29.99 until 31 October 2026, then $49.99). The annual and monthly plans include a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers; the weekly plan has none. The price and any trial are shown in the app before you pay.

How many zones and cities does OVERDRIVE have?

2,206 curated zones in 230 cities across 53 countries, as of version 2.0.0. Roads paint anywhere on earth, not only in those cities.

What languages does OVERDRIVE support?

The app is translated into 14 languages and picks yours automatically: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Arabic.

Is OVERDRIVE on Android or CarPlay?

No. OVERDRIVE is an iPhone app (iOS 16.4 or later). There is no Android version and no CarPlay app.

Is OVERDRIVE a navigation app?

No. It is listed in the App Store's Navigation category, but it gives no turn-by-turn or spoken directions and doesn't replace Google Maps or Waze. You can search for a destination and see a route line and the distance to go. For directions, keep using a navigation app; with Background Recording on, a drive you have started keeps recording behind it.

Does driving faster give a higher score in OVERDRIVE?

No. Speed and drifting are never scored, ranked or rewarded. Drives are scored on flow, which measures smoothness, and there is no lap timer, no speed leaderboard and no drift scoring anywhere in the app.
